Two out of Three Ain't Bad

My Three Weeks; Three Closets challenge deadline has come to an end. But I only got 3 of them completed...a big fat F is my final grade! Although I have to give myself an A + on how well the other two closets turned out. It feels good to be somewhat organized!!! I am sure one day that 3rd closet will get finished, especially because it sits empty, begging me to fill it with things! Most of these 'things' sit in the nursery right now, so it's only a matter of time...

Ah, yes the nursery, those 4 walls hold big dreams...starting with the purchase of paint this weekend! YAY!!! That's a whole other blog post!

Anyway, you'll remember our front hall closet looking like this:

AFTER:

A set of clear drawers houses all seasonal outerwear and the vacuum finally has a spot to call home, along with the iron and brooms!

As you can see, I kept my exercise ball...you never know..one day....and Gray likes to bounce it around too!!

All of my extra vases are now kept on the top shelf...I used to have to rummage through my crawl space upstairs whenever hubby brought home impromptu flowers (ha!). So much easier now!

So, I am on the road to organized living. I wonder what else I can accomplish in the next 5 weeks?! Happy Weekend!

{Nursery Decor} A little birdie told me...

...about this super cool baby nursery! Actually, it was a really good friend of mine who designed and created this beautiful little haven for her soon (less then a week) to arrive baby boy.

Hand sewn birds..so cute! And I love how the yellow and green complement the soft shades of blue in the room!

I have been a little nursery crazy for the last little bit, trying to get all the details in order for our own 'baby pea pods' room, so seeing her completed room is making me a bit jealous! But that's ok, it just means I really like it!!

{Life Made Lovely Monday}

What's making my life lovely today?

Aside from today being a holiday and the freshly fallen snow in our yard...thoughts of the weekend are making my life lovely...

It was long overdue for both Mike and myself...we finally got away and had some 'couple' time! Gray went for a sleepover at his Granny and Gramp's house and we went on a 30 minute road trip to a nearby town...I figured it was now or never cause in a month or so, our 'alone' time will be very limited!

It was exactly what we needed...we spent the day shopping browsing the local shops and then checked into our fabulous hotel, complete with fireplace and jacuzzi! Everything was perfect..we were greeted with homemade cookies, apples and bottles of water for a snack and robes on the bed. We spent the later part of the afternoon relaxing on our super comfy king sized bed before getting ready for an even more fabulous dinner (part of our hotel weekend getaway package)...the food was delicious and the service was amazing. We spent a couple hours just sitting, eating and talking, people watching through the window seat view we had. Oh, and I had the most fabulous Virgin Pina Colada!!!

The hotel even had a list of DVDs that you could borrow...so we cozied up after dinner and watched a few movies from the comfort of bed, the hum of a baby monitor far from our minds! BLISS!!

So, what's making your life lovelier today?

Closet Challenge Progress

My Closet Challenge is well under way, I have our bedroom closet finished and am working on the front hall closet at the moment...there is still lots to do, but I thought I would show you some of the progress...

Remember our bedroom closet before...yuck!

Here is the after:

There is light!! Thanks to my handy husband!

With the tall shelves gone, our closet looks so spacious! Plus, these smaller shelves work just as well as the large ones, once we decluttered.

Ooohh...look at you all color coordinated...not that I can wear half of them at the moment...soon though!

I added hooks for belts and necklaces, and the top shelf I am using for jewellery and perfumes-so pretty!

With only 1.5 weeks left in my timeline, I am on a crunch to get it all done! This weekend I am taking a much needed break from all this organizing to spend some quality time with the Mr.!  I can't even remember the last time Mike and I went out on a date, so I thought I would surprise him with a little getaway! Gray is going to his Granny and Gramps' house for the night and we are treating ourselves out to dinner, a hotel suite and breakfast the following morning! I can't wait!

Hopefully, this miserable cold that has been stuck in my body all week will miraculously leave in time for Saturday...cross your fingers for me!

Well my friends, whatever it is that your doing this weekend, enjoy!

New Look!!!

If you haven't noticed, and shame on you if you haven't, my blog got a little makeover...I am still ironing out a few kinks, and will be adding more 'pretty things' so bear with me...The last couple weeks I have been wanting to do a little facelift but it just came down to time, which was difficult to find...

There are so many great blogs that I read and I kept asking myself, why did I start to follow them? What made me stop and want to read more? Of course, the writing is fabulous, but the initial thing to catch my eye was the colors, the layout and how it made me feel. Did it look like it would be something I was interested in? I realized then, that maybe my blog wasn't catching other people's eye...it had been fairly simple because I wanted my pictures and writing to stand out. But why couldn't I have both? Color and amazing stories...

So what do you think so far?

Tuesday Tales

.
{Foreword: I was trying to post this all day but stupid blogger had other ideas...so my post titled Tuesday Tales somehow became a Wednesday Rambling... }

Sleep Tight

It has been over a week now and Gray is finally sleeping in his big boy room! How did we do it? By removing the headboard and bed frame! So, his mattress and box spring sit on the floor...it worked to get him to sleep in the bed, but now he has figured out that he can have free reign in the room once mom and dad tuck him in and leave. Not sure if that is such a good idea...last night for instance, he was playing in the dark in there for about an hour after we put him to bed. Like any good parents we let him, figuring he would go to bed when he was good and tired. By 9pm we didn't hear anything anymore and figured he went to sleep! Oh did he ever...!!! I went to check on him before I went to bed and couldn't get into his room! Something was blocking the door...a body! The body of a toddler! I guess that hardwood floor was so inviting that Gray decided it would be a good spot to lay down and snooze! I was dying of laughter! Literally using the door to push him out of the way I managed to squeeze in and pick him up and put him back into bed...

Big Boy

Gray is really starting to show his independence- from tucking his teddy bears into bed, trying to feed the cats his food ( I even saw him try to read them a story-he was quickly shot down by Cornflake who was not happy at the idea of being read to!), he's balancing blocks into tall towers and making megablock houses for his cars, he helps empty the dishwasher and vacuums (slave labour?). He is definitely going to be a great big brother and will be making all of us laugh with his crazy antics! Oh, my little boy is no longer a baby!

Signs of Spring

Nothing says spring more then brightly colored tulips-courtesy of my super awesome husband! They really do brighten your day when you walk by them! Add in the sunshine...

Hello, vitamin D! Where have you been hiding? I just couldn't resist getting a shot of the beautiful sunshine this am...what a happy start to the morning! Don't let the sun fool you though, it's still freakin' cold out!! Oh, and please excuse the dirty windows!

Stay tuned this week for an update on my closet situation...!

three weeks; three closets

s
I have some organizing that has to take place before baby pea pods arrival in 8 weeks,
and I am giving myself 3 weeks to complete it! I wish it would only take 3 days but to be honest, I'm not sure if I have that kind of energy!

So here is my challenge:

Closet #1-Master Bedroom

Reorganize, make room for Mikes work clothes-which are currently in another closet, fix the light (hasn't worked for over a year!) Remove shelves and replace with smaller ones, remove pant rack (not an efficient use of space) and replace with bar.

Closet #2- Proposed Linen Closet

Reorganize, remove Mike's work clothes, get rid of odds an ends, replace hanging bar with shelves. In the end all of our extra towels, sheets, toiletries will be stored here!

Closet #3- Front Hall

Right now this closet is used for baby toys, an exercise ball that hasn't been used in about a year or two, board games, shoes, coats and an assortment of junk!
This will become the storage area for all cleaning items, vacuum, broom...and ? I'm not sure yet...

Well there you have it...my horrible, unorganized closets that are in desperate need of attention. Please don't judge...:)

In Gray's Words...

s

Daddy refers to me as the little 'Hellion'...I prefer to think of myself as 'Spirited'...I like to test the boundaries and I love getting mommy and daddy's attention! Sometimes I cry when I am frustrated and throw things when I don't get my way...sometimes I think it's fun to throw my food all over the floor and watch mommy and daddy pick it up. I'm not really all that bad though... I really love cuddling with mommy and wrestling with daddy on the floor. Looking at 'choo choos' and balls in books is fun,  and getting mommy to draw birds, planes and buses is fun too! Throwing my bouncy ball up and down the stairs with Daddy makes me laugh so much...

See? I'm not really all that terrible...my good qualities definitely out weigh the bad ones, don't you think? Plus...I AM PRETTY DARN CUTE!
