Time

It's almost time. In three weeks our time as a family of three will be numbered...I am excited. Anxious. Worried. HAPPY.

The last few days I have been feverishly running around, trying to cross things off my To Do list, and it's not easy to do when you are feeling huge and uncomfortable.

Why do we (as women) do this to ourselves? We have a whole 9 months (10 actually) to prepare for this wonderful little human being to bless our lives and we wait for the last month to stress about all those 'things' that don't really need to be done-right now! Nesting, they call it...more like Stressing...

I spent the first 4 months of being pregnant, trying not to think about how the banana I just ate was making me feel nauseous, or how I wish I could just take a nap..

Months 5-7 were great, I had lots of energy, I loved my baby bump, I could still play on the floor with Gray, but I didn't feel the anxious 'must do everything' vibe, because there was still lots of TIME?!

Once the 8th month hit,I started making the list, the dreaded things 'I must have done by the time the baby comes' list. Well, now that it's down to the last few weeks, I really wish I would've done some of these things a bit sooner. You would think I would learn the second time around!

Funny how all of this is done for a baby that is sitting and waiting patiently in my belly, who probably only cares that he is loved, fed, warm and changed. My efforts at making sure all his clothes are folded and in place and the floor behind the fridge is clean, probably seems like nothing to him.

All this nesting will be worth it though in the end...to finally meet Baby Pea Pod (who will probably be nameless for the first few hours, since Mike and I can't seem to find the perfect name!). So, I guess what's left is to just enjoy the TIME, the time spent together as a couple, as parents of a fantastic son, as mom and son and as dad and son....anticipating the arrival of our new baby boy.

Don't look at the all the cat hair...

My little book worm!

Oh, and for those of you who followed my Closet Makeover Challenge, the third closet is finished...

Remember the before:

 After:

(I would love to give all my closets a fresh coat of crisp white paint...but that will have to be on another to do list!)

*Blog posts may be far and few between for the next month or so...as we await and adjust to the changes to come. I won't completely leave you, I will still be here and I will for sure let you know when our Baby Pea Pod arrives...plus I still have to reveal the new nursery (which is still a work in progress!)

Wordless(ish) Wednesdays

No really, he's a boy!
He just loves anything that fits on his wrist...also moms shoes, necklaces and bracelets...gotta love him! :)
Oh, and happy 21 months Gray (oops, that was a couple days ago!)!

DIY Baby Mobile

There were so many mobiles that caught my eye as I was looking for inspiration for little 'Pea Pods' room. I finally took a few ideas and combined them to make this one. It was pretty simple and I loved how it turned out!

Materials needed:

Colored & Patterned cardstock
Shape cutter
Thread
Needle
Embroidery Hoop
Ribbon
Glue Gun
Fishing Line
Hook

Cut out a variety of circles, ovals, whatever shape you like. I used ovals.

With a thread and needle string them together in any random order, varying the lengths of thread.
For the best results use the smallest needle possible and double the thread. This ensures a tight fit so your cut outs don't slide away on you. You can also add a dab of glue to the underside of each cut out to ensure they won't move anywhere.

Tie each length to an embroidery hoop.

Wrap the embroidery hoop with ribbon, securing the ends with hot glue. In hindsight, I should have done this first before tying the strands on, but I was trying to hide the thread...so whichever way works for you! Doing it this way just means you have to equally spread out all the threads beforehand. I then used 3 pieces of fishing line to secure to a hook in the ceiling and then 'fluffed' each oval into the perfect place!

and....TADA!

Spring will not be springing

By the looks of things, Spring will not be springing anytime soon...at least not in my neck of the woods...

Creative Notions

This week has produced lots of pretty projects (which is why my blog has been lacking in posts-sorry!). I can't wait to share them with you, but not quite yet...hopefully after this weekend, the nursery will be in the final decorating stages...maybe I will show you a sneak peak, or maybe I'll keep you guessing?!

Some things that I will definitely be adding to my project list:

I could totally use this in the kitchen, Fabric Dry Erase Board, maybe then my husband would actually write down when he uses all the milk!

This would be so handy in the car-Sippy Cut Leash

We have a mesh bag that I found at the dollar store, but this would be so much cuter-Mesh Toy Bag

You know those generic, thin little hooded towels for babies-they are cute but they suck at keeping baby warm and dry....until now.... make your own Hooded Bath Towel!

In the spirit of spring, and with Easter around the corner, this wreath would be perfect...in yellow perhaps?

Happy Friday everyone!

Comfort

This past weekend was busy, busy, busy...with painting the nursery and other odds and ends around the house...let me tell you, the 'nesting' part of pregnancy has kicked in, if only I could bend over and be comfortable for more then a second at a time....but I did manage to enjoy a fantastic cup of hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and whipped cream!!!

The Big 3-1

Today I turn 31.

I have been staring at that sentence for a couple minutes, trying to conjure up some thoughts or at least some inspiring words to write. I am drawing a blank. Just give me a second...

I guess when I was younger, 31 seemed OLD...and today I don't feel old. I feel happy. Happy, that I have experienced what I have in my 31 years young life.

The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” — Eden Ahbez

I feel happy that I have the knowledge of what love is and that I know what it feels like. I have a supportive and loving husband, a growing family, friends that love me for who I am, even when who and what I am can be a bit ugly. Shhhh, don't tell anyone!

"I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel."- Author unknown
Happy, that I can learn from the ugly and make something positive out of it. It's hard, but smiles really do heal everything.

"The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief. "~William Shakespeare, Othello
I am happy at where I am in life, it may be different then what I would have expected 10 years ago. But I am ok with that, because this life is so much better!
